Baby Bedroom Furniture

Each room in your home has its own personality. Depending on who stays in that room, it can be a unique display of that person's tastes, or simply a room with a particular theme or color scheme.

Of course, bedrooms require certain furniture pieces to make them comfortable, and you must take these into account when deciding how to set up a room. Since rooms vary greatly in size and shape, you might have to add more or use less furniture. Even a small room can look great, however, with the right decor and paint.

A unique decorating challenge is the baby's room. You want to make this area a comfortable place where both you and your baby can feel relaxed and at ease. To achieve this feeling, you will need to use furnishings and decorations that are visually pleasing as well as comfortable. Fun additions like cute toys and pictures on the wall are great for a baby's room, but don't let the room become cluttered or it might add stress to the atmosphere.

A baby's room requires certain pieces of furniture that you will have to choose from. You can either buy the furniture as a set, or pick piece by piece. Some of the basic furnishings for a baby's bedroom include:

  • Crib. You will need to select a safe and comfortable crib for the baby's room. Look for sturdy structure, and make sure it complies with crib safety standards. You can find cribs made of different material, usually kinds of wood. You will also need to get a mattress and bedding to go with the crib.
  • Changing Table. Get a changing table that is a comfortable height for you to work with. It will need padding to keep the baby comfortable and preferably some shelf space for supplies. A table with high sides will help prevent your baby from falling.
  • Rocking Chair. This piece of furniture is great for feeding your baby or calming your baby down. Get a chair with padding and a quiet, gentle motion.
  • Storage. Shelves, drawers, and other storage areas are extremely useful for organizing the baby's clothes, toys, books, and other items. Don't go overboard, but a shelf or two along with a set of drawers will be enough to store things.

When selecting baby furniture, try to get pieces that will all match and look great together. If you are using old or hand-me-down furniture, you may want to repaint the pieces to give them new life.
