Decorating the Laundry Room

Written by Lee Wyatt (last updated May 10, 2021)

Have you ever noticed how the laundry room is almost always the most unattractive and unappealing room in the entire house? Instead of leaving the laundry room to be a room that seems to be centered only around function, have a little bit of fun. Decorating the laundry room is really easy to do, as long as you keep a few simple guidelines in mind. These guidelines will help you to come up with some great ideas for decorating your laundry room, and have it once again be a room that you are proud of.

  • Think simplistic. Laundry rooms are supposed to be rather simplistic. After all, it is not very often that your laundry room will be used for several different purposes. To reflect this, you should keep your design scheme simplistic in nature. Keep the mess to a minimum in your laundry room by only keeping the items that you need in your laundry room. Try not to overload the room as a storage room when you will need to be in there frequently to do your laundry, as well as store your linens and things.
  • Be organized. When decorating your laundry room, take the time to have everything as organized as possible. This basically means that you should have a place for everything, and everything in its place. Try to use organizational helps such as baskets, bins, and so on to help keep everything as neat as possible.
  • Go colorful. Help brighten up this rather dreary room by simply adding a little color. Since laundry rooms tend to be enclosed with only a small window to bring in light if you are lucky, it only makes sense that you should make the room as bright as possible. Do this with the use of bright, cheerful colors.
  • Have fun! About the only limitation that you should have to decorating your laundry room is your imagination. Have fun, and try to make the laundry room as enjoyable as you can. After all, if you are going to need to spend an hour or so in the room, then it should be an enjoyable time if at all possible. Add a small television, a radio, or basically anything else that you can to make the room as enjoyable as possible, without overcrowding it.
